ARCHITECTS

Our joined up approach to architecture and construction means you receive a comprehensive service, taking projects from initial concept design right through to completion of work on site, if you wish. Each skill, design and build, complimenting each other.

We specialise in the repair, alteration and sensitive transformation  of historic and listed buildings, as well as carefully crafted contextually appropriate, new buildings within historically significant sites.

By working hand in glove with the construction side of the business, we can tailor our skills to suit your needs, whether that's a Feasibility Study, Concept Design, Planning and Listed Building Application, Budgeting, Site Administration, or the complete construction service. See more about our process in the section below.

We pride ourselves on working very closely with clients to establish and develop your individual requirements, whist carefully balancing this with a clear understanding of a sites historic significance.

Using our in-depth experience we offer you appropriate research and site analysis. In so doing a building's history can be revealed and clearly explained. This detailed knowledge can inform you of appropriate repairs, help rationalise building uses and layouts whilst also providing justification for any new work, woven into the existing fabric.

Our Experience includes a wide range of building types from smaller scale domestic alteration projects to larger scale grand designs and civic / arts based regeneration projects.

We enjoy the creative process with you, pushing the boundaries of design to create unique and appropriate 21st century responses that stand on their own right, yet also compliment past layers of history.

Successful results for you.

The high level of detail we provide you, at all stages of the project is often commented on and we believe is necessary to make a project run smoothly and more cost effectively - something that isn't always the case in this industry.

Using this detailed approach and by working closely with Heritage bodies brings you success. We are proud that several projects have gained awards and commendations, or been removed from Historic England's 'Buildings at Risk Register'.

George Tasker

Architect

George started his career in the early 1990’s working hands on for various building conservators in Devon and Somerset. This sparked an interest in the careful and sympathetic repair of old buildings that has informed all his subsequent work. After qualifying as an architect, he assisted on the Millennium Project to restore Bath’s historic spas.

Moving to Bristol, he worked for Architecton on a diverse range of projects that required the detailed repair and adaption of many significant historic buildings, often carefully weaving in contemporary alterations to unlock new uses. These ranged from bespoke domestic projects, to community buildings, museums and the conversion of Bristol Zoo’s Grade II listed gorilla house. Rewardingly, several of these projects removed buildings from Historic England’s ‘At Risk Register’ and also won established industry awards.

George is an Architect Accredited in Building Conservation (AABC) and has a background in self build. The practical aspect of building his own designs to a budget, honed his belief that design and construction should go hand in hand to simplify what can be a complex process. By combining his design skills with Corbel’s costing, project management and traditional construction skills, provides that streamlined process, taking projects through all stages from inception to completion.

Bristol Theosophical Lodge

We recommend highly Corbel Architect services.

Bristol Theosophical lodge is maintained by a group of volunteers and we needed an accurate report on the status of our building.

Corbel where flexible in their approach to our needs with the building being in mixed use and events taking place.

They provided a thorough survey as to where we are and an action plan to help us moving forward.

Thank you Corbel....
